Practice Tip of the MonthOUR FINGERS ARE DUMB!!! The muscles of the hand need a minimum of 3 repetitions of a passage in order to remember it the next you play the passage. If you play it few than 3 times, the fingers will not remember it. After 6 - 7 repetitions of a passage, the brain is fatigued, so move on to another passage. If you continue, the passage will probably get worse and you will get mad. Your best window of repetition is 3 - 6 times. Parent TipsEven if you do not play an instrument, you can help your child succeed in piano lessons. You can show how important the lessons are by getting your student to lessons on time, check the assignment notebook during the week, provide a quiet and consistent practice time, ask your child to play for you, keep the piano tuned and in good working condition and encourage your child to perform for recitals and other events. Your child will pick up on your attitude and this will go a long way to determining the amount of success your child experiences.
